How MD Realty began:

After many years of being an individual top producing agent, it was clear to me that I needed help to keep up the demands with my growing business. The challenge was finding competent people who shared the same mission, enthusiasm, loyalty, customer service, and drive for satisfaction that I needed to make sure our clients are happy and receive the same quality of expertise and care as if they had worked with me, personally.

After graduating from Birmingham Southern with a degree in Biology, Susan Dressler, my daughter, received her degree as a Nurse Practitioner from Vanderbilt University. She was struggling as she tried to balance administrative duties and the hours that entailed with daycare hours. I encouraged her to join me, and for nearly two years we worked together on all our transactions. Over the ensuing years, she became a favored Realtor who made strong bonds with her clients.

As Susan’s star rose, I started my own Real Estate company, MD Realty. M for Mestre, D for Dressler. We chose to do a play on MD because we serve so many in the medical community – all by word of mouth! Together our practice grew, and yet again, I knew I needed to bring someone on board. But again, I had the same concerns for client service, expertise and satisfaction. I had been trying for years to bring my son, Adam, into the business, but having gotten his law degree from the University of Alabama, he wanted to practice law, or so he thought. After 5 years he decided he had had all the fun he could stand and joined us. Again, he went through the same training process as had Susan. He has evolved into one of the brightest and most adept young Real Estate Agents in Metro Birmingham. In addition to assisting me, he has developed his own ardent client base. He is our resident expert on all things Birmingham – attractions, food, bars, breweries, what’s happening, etc. His wit makes a sometimes stressful time, a fun time! 

Alas, for the love of a child who loves horses, Susan and family moved to Tennessee in 2025. And though our Team may be small, it is by design. Our Team has successfully mastered maintaining a personal level of service, and we have no desire to change that model. While much of the Team’s business is from repeat clients, we continue to attract new business, not because we advertise or buy leads, but because our clients spread the word about us. Our business is 100% referral based. Each year we welcome many Residents, Fellows and Faculty to our real estate family, but our client base is diverse in that we service all price points and walks of life.
